So recently in the dressing room, a friend told me that she won't rock her natural hair (which is a really cute TWA btw) because she feels she would "never get hired." Now, I was a little confused because every other black woman in our cast is natural or rocking a protective style and the natural look is SOOOO in right now in the entertainment industry. Look at every black girl onstage or in commercials or print. If she doesn't have weave down her butt, she surely (and most likely) has a big ol' curly FRO! She told me that she was referring to corporate America. Now, I'm not in the 9-5 circle, but I do have a lot of natural friends who are, for example, my bestie, Monique, who is another very successful natural hair sistah with a degree in chemical engineering from one of the top universities in the nation and a cute job to boot!
You tell me because I don't know, ladies. It's practically 2012. What do you think? Is natural hair offensive in a "white man's workplace?"
I don't know about you, but I'd hire her. Fierce!
